SNAP is a test conducted by the Symbioisis International University for admission to its prestigious MBA and other masters programs in various locations in India. In the article below, we’ll take a look at SNAP 2014 analysis.
SNAP exam has managed to maintain its shape and colour since its inception to be a paper pencil test of 120 minutes focusing on 150 questions spread across four areas as below:

SNAP 2014 students’ reaction: LR, DI and GK difficult; overall paper time-consuming
I reached my centre in Pune before the reporting time and was soaking in the winter sun and overheard the students being bothered more with the GK section than anything else. General Knowledge, which I thought was supposed to be common-sense, is apparently not so common.
Eight tips to score well in GK.
Coming to the analysis of SNAP 2014, following were my personal observations.
The classrooms were neat and spacious with 30 students put in each classroom. The questions papers were distributed at 1:50 pm with the OMR sheet inside and we were asked to fill in the personal details.
The test started as per schedule and went smooth. Paper was exactly on the lines of previous years’. I also present a brief analysis of each section in SNAP 2014 exam.

SNAP Analysis
Quantitative Ability
Moderate to easy! There were no high end calculations or concepts involved. Most of the questions could be cracked with looking at the options. There was a high percentage of focus on arithmetic – Time and Work, Time speed and Distance, Profit and Loss, Interest, Average etc had about 8-10 questions between them.
Numbers, Log, Probablity had a total of 7 questions amongst them. Geometry made a stronger than usual presence felt with questions from basic geometry, circles, triangles, and even coordinate geometry being asked. There were a couple of questions asked on fundamentals of trigonometry also which a student from a non-mathematics background might have found tough. As usual, a simple set on pie chart with some very straight forward questions and no calculations.
Overall, I think an attempt of 30-34 questions were possible in about 30 minutes in the paper.
SNAP results to be declared on January 10, 2015.
Verbal Ability
A higher focus on verbal ability with a lot of questions on vocab was presented. Most of the questions were pretty straight forward and could be solved really fast.
There were some reading comprehension passages which were easy to comprehend. The smaller RC with three questions looked complex but had straight forward questions.
What was surprising was the absence of parajumbles and the usual CR questions. There were a number of questions based on contextual usage in English in a Fill in the blank mode. Overall, the easiest section in my opinion esp with the type of questions involved.
An attempt of 30 is possible in 28-32 minutes.
Logical Reasoning
Few questions were lengthy and above average. There were questions from basic analogy related mathematical/non mathematical reasoning, to matrix and arrangement type questions, to coding and decoding, to Set theory, and to the concept of alternators.
Question selection would have been the key in the first round. In the first round about 15-18 questions could be solved without much difficulty. I think this was one of the very rare instances, where I noticed vocab based questions in LR.
The question on Set theory must have been attempted by almost everyone so it would cease to be a differentiator. A well prepared student must have solved the relatively complex American-German caselet and/or the alternator caselet to boost his score.
There were some very very straight forward questions in this area possibly taken from the basic reference material of any coaching institution.
Overall, an attempt of 22-24 in 45 minutes was doable.

General Knowledge
GK was above average in my opinion. There were questions ranging from diverse fields of sports , awards, important events, logo, tagline, to history etc.
The best thing about the section is it can be done in 5-7 minutes with an attempt of about 12-14 to get you through the finish line.
Overall SNAP 2014 Analysis
I feel the paper was very balanced and similar to the previous years. It should not throw a lot of variation from previous cut offs unless the number of applicants has changed significantly this year. A score of about 95-98 should be very good to expect the best calls under SNAP.
SNAP analysis 2014 ends.
