Students’ Speak: 6 TANCET preparation tips you must abide by
By: Tanvir Singh
If you run a correlation model of all MBA exams in India, you would see TANCET as a clear outlier in it. This is because its preparation strategy is different as compared to all other exams.
Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is conducted by Anna University for admission to its post-graduation MBA programmes. Exam format and syllabus for this MBA exam are entirely different from M.Tech and other post-graduation exams. TANCET is still conducted in only offline mode across various cities in Tamil Nadu.

To start with, TANCET judges you upon a variety of different fields, including business situations, English proficiency, data sufficiency and logical reasoning. A sigh of relief though, there is no negative marking for unanswered questions.
Below are the vital tips to excel in TANCET:
- Start reading business cases and prepare your own question b
- Get sample TANCET questions and appear for mocks, appear for at least 15 mocks before going real since the format of this exam is very dynamic.
- Maintaining speed and accuracy are the two important aspects for clearing TANCET exam.
- TANCET is particularly fond of business situations and cases, make sure you are very well versed with it.
- Daily newspaper reading, I would suggest The Economic Times, as it is very focused on the business side.
- Regular Revision of each and every subject matters a lot, so do study and revise the topics studied so far by solving previous year question papers.
TANCET does not require you to have an overhaul in your preparation entirely, it is a natural nut to crack. If attempted right, 50% of the questions can fetch you around 95+ percentile. The best that to work is to identify your areas of strength and weakness and play in your strong zone. Don’t waste your time in theory, I would suggest appearing directly for the mocks. Be Confident enough and calm during your exams.
In we compare the difficulty level of this exam across different MBA exams, TANCET will probably fall on the more accessible side of the bar. Thus, the key to success if SPEED. But remember, there is a 1/3 penalty for a wrong answer.
