Students’ Speak: Failures are stepping stones to success
By: Anmol Gupta
We’ve experienced the fear of failure many times in our life, be it while driving a bicycle for the first time, delivering a public speech or waiting for your board exam results. Many times we have put in great efforts, however, the results do not come in our favour. This is a very common phenomenon and one shouldn’t get demotivated and lose hope.
Here are a few tips which will help you overcome the fear of failure and move forward with confidence:
Acceptance
Failure is a part of life, there’s no big deal about it. Everybody fails in some or the other point in life. But it’s important to acknowledge and accept the failure. This would not only help you to ease out stress but will let you learn from the mistakes which were made. Once you are able to take the failures in constructive terms, that very moment you’ll see yourself becoming more mature and improving big time in whatever endeavors you take, not only restricted to MBA or other entrance exams like.
Speak up and discuss
It’s a human tendency to laud our success and to hide our failures. But trying to bottle out our failures and fears too much can have a detrimental effect on our well being. It may lead to mental stress and result in a loss of self-confidence. So, if you are feeling depressed about something, speak up and discuss it with your closed ones. They may be your parents, teachers, close friends or anybody who will support you and motivate you to bounce back strongly.
Retrospection
Failures are stepping stones to success - It’s an old proverb, but it comes into reality only when one tries to retrospect, and learn from those failures. Identify the gaps which were left when you appeared for the entrances. Put in more effort to bridge those gaps and then try to give mocks after the adopted improvised version of you. I’m pretty sure you’ll see the change happening and next time when you would appear for these entrances, you would come out with flying colours.
Positive thinking
The best weapon to overcome failure is positive thinking. Try to stay motivated and adopt some activities in everyday life like meditation, sports, etc. which help you keep positive. This would help you move forward in life because failures are not a one-time affair in someone’s life.
