Q: What according to you is the basic difference between PGDM and MBA programme?

A: The most basic and yet the most important difference between both these management programmes is that the curriculum of PGDM programme is designed in relevance to the industry requirements as the programme is generally offered by autonomous institutes. However, MBA is a University-affiliated programme and hence its curriculum is designed by the University itself.

PGDM deals with more of case studies and real aspects of a business life whereas MBA deals with more of theoretical concepts.

Q: What is the eligibility criteria and admission process for admission to the PGDM programme at United World School of Business?

A: Students aspiring admission to PGDM programme at United World School fo Business must fulfil the eligibility criteria which is to have a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent in graduation in any discipline from a recognised university. Also, they must have a valid score of any of the nationally accepted management qualifying exam such as  CAT, CMAT, MAT, XAT and ATMA.

As a part of the admission process, students need to first fill up the application form online on the institute’s official website by paying a nominal fee of Rs 1,000. Eligible students will be invited for spot presentation/ group discussion/ case analysis, Written Aptitude Test (WAT), Psychometric Test and Personal Interview.

The final selection is made on the basis of the overall performance of the student in the selection rounds and the merit scores.

Q: What are the various specialisation options available to students?

A: We aim at keeping the students at par with the current industry standards and hence, we offer the specialisation options in all core areas of the management with the industry-embedded curriculum. The specialisation options available to students are:

  • Marketing
  • Human Resource Management
  • Operations Management
  • Entrepreneurship and Family Business
  • International Business
  • Finance

Q: What do students study during the two-year of PGDM programme?

A: The curriculum of AICTE-approved two-year PGDM programme is strategically divided into four semesters. Its starts with a two-week orientation programme followed by the first two semesters focusing on the Foundation courses from all the specialisations. The courses or the subjects in the first two semesters lays a basis for students to decide which specialisation they wish to pursue in the second year or following two semesters.

Also, there is a mandatory two-month internship programme along with the live projects that students need to be a part of for gaining practical exposure.

The first semester is called ‘Foundation’, the second is ‘Immersion’, third ‘Specialisation’ and the fourth one is ‘Finishing’.

Q: What is the total cost of the two-year programme? Do you offer any financial aid or scholarships to students?

A: The total cost of the two-year PGDM programme is Rs 6.5 lakh. We also offer scholarships to students on the basis of their merit scores and scores of the qualifying exam.

Q: Can you talk about the infrastructure at the campus?

A: The campus of United World School of Business offers State of art infrastructure to all its students. It includes a hygienic cafeteria and separate hostels for both boys and girls along with a stringent security system that makes it home-like environment.

To keep the mind healthy, one must focus on their physical fitness also. Hence, we have a number of indoor sports, outdoor sports, regular tournaments such as Cricket, Football, Kabaddi, Chess, Badminton, etc. We also have an in-house gym facility for students.

To encourage interactive sessions and quality learning, the institute has digital classrooms, and proper sound amplification system. A soundproof reading room is also available to students so they can learn peacefully. The library in the campus offers the most exhaustive collection of books and e-learning material.

Q: How do you plan to make students industry-ready?

A: Apart from the regular curriculum, we have introduced a few certification courses for the students that they can pursue in the final semester of the PGDM programme basis the chosen specialisation. This includes HR Certification from AHRD, Finance Certification from ICICI Direct and NISM, Digital marketing certification from NIIT, Operations Management, Retail Management, International Business and Digital Marketing

These courses with the regular curriculum, help students equip themselves with the industry-readiness skills that offer them an extra edge over students of other institutes.

Q: How have been the placements for the last year?

A: Placements are a crucial part to any management programme. This defines the success of the two-year journey of the students as well as the institute. United World School of Business has a track record of 100 per cent placements for over the last five years.
