XAT 2016 was held today i.e. January 3, 2016 across various centres across India. The exam commenced at 10am and continued till 1.30pm. The mode of exam was pen-paper based.

Shiksha visited one of the centres in Noida and spoke to some XAT exam aspirants before the exam commenced. Most of the candidates were nervous about the exam, but were hoping that they do well in the paper.

"I am well prepared for the exam, but let's see how difficult the paper would be”, said Astha.

Abhinav who also appeared for the exam said, “Though I have been preparing for the exam from a long time, I am a little worried about the General Knowledge section. I had also appeared for SNAP exam, and the questions in the GK section were very specific; date related. I hope that the General Knowledge section of XAT exam is not that difficult.”

Sushant was another aspirant who spoke to us. “I am hoping that the difficulty level of the exam paper is moderate. I have practised several mock tests and I am well-aware of the exam pattern. If the paper will be in line with the mock tests, I am sure I will do well.”

Sonali Mishra, a working professional, was all excited about appearing for the exam. “I am extremely confident about my preparation, and I am sure that I will do a good job in the exam. All I need to focus on is time management and accuracy.”

Once the exam got over at 1.30pm, Shiksha once again got in touch candidates, and got their reactions on the exam. This is what they had to say.

Ayushi Teotia is a professional working in KPMG. According to her, “The paper was tough. Maths was easy, but English was lengthy and difficult. Decision Making was of moderate difficulty while General Knowledge was again tough. The passage that was given was ‘Technology and nature are natural enemies’. Talking about the passage, it was a very basic one as compared to the last year’s passage which was interesting. Overall, I would say that the paper was lengthy”.

Divyesh Kulval who is working in Tech Mahindra has appeared for all management exams. “For me the paper was good. Quant and Decision making were easy while General Knowledge and English were moderate. If I compared the General Knowledge section of this year with that of last year’s exam - this year it was tough.

Yatharth Verma working in Bank of Tokyo also spoke to Shiksha. “If I summarise the paper is one word, the term would be ‘good’. English was tough while Quant and DI sections were easy. Talking about General Knowledge, the section was tricky. Only those who have practised enough for this section will be able to score god marks in the section. Essay was not very conventional; as one expects in XAT exam. RC was time consuming.

Avvya Agarwal, an IT professional said, “The difficulty level of the exam was moderate. The paper was not lengthy, but one would have to focus on time management. The passage was not interesting, moreover the topic of essay was also not very convincing. Quant was good to attempt”.

Divyank Rastogi who is a civil engineer also spoke to us. This is what he had to say. “I was expecting the paper to be easy, but it was not as easy as I was expecting. The Quant section was moderate and shorter than last time. The General Knowledge section was tough. Names of various personalities were given and we had to guess their background. Also, few questions from stats and current affairs were also a part of the General Knowledge section.
