XLRI Jamshedpur wraps up summer placement process 2014

The summer placement process 2014 at XLRI - Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, wrapped with 365 students of PGDM (Business Management & Human Resource) getting placed in just 3.5 days. In total 385 offers were made by 105 participating companies for 365 students.

The maximum offers, 12, were made by Altisource.

Followed by Altisource, 10 offers were made by Vodafone, nine each by Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), ITC and Microsoft, and 8 (eight) offers each by Arterial Blood Gas (ABG), Samsung R&D Institute and Wipro.

A parallel placement process called 'Parivartan' was launched this year for students who are interested to work with Non-Government Organizations and Not-for-Profit Organizations. A few big organisations like Pratham, Tata Trust, Azim Premji Foundation, Bandhan Microfinance, Ashoka Foundation, E-Vidyaloka, etc participated in this process.

Sales and Marketing emerged as the most preferred domain with 47 per cent of the batch opting for it. This was followed by Finance (26 per cent of the batch), Consulting (11 per cent of the batch), General Management (9 per cent of the batch) and Operations and Program Management (7 per cent of the batch). MH AlShaya, ABG, Altisource, HUL, Kellogg's, Nomura, Pepsi, Godrej and a European Hedge Fund offered for international internships to students.

HUL, ITC, Marico, Kellogg's, Mondelez, P&G's, Nestlé, Akzonobel, Mars, Asian Paints, Castrol, Colgate Palmolive, L'Oréal, GSK CH, Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages, Pepsi, Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, and Reckitt Benckiser.

- Almost 19 per cent of the students chose to intern in FMCG sector.

- HUL and ITC made offers for nine profiles each while Kellogg's and Mondelez offered seven roles each.

- Pepsi and GSK CH offered for its Supply Chain roles as well.

Consulting

Aon Hewitt, BCG, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, EY, KPMG, People Business, PwC, Boston Consulting Group (BCG)

- XLRI saw more than 50 per cent jump in offers made in consulting sector.

- On an average, each firm made four offers in this sector.

- BCG offered seven roles, and for the first time out of seven roles, two were offered to HRM batch.

Conglomerate

ABG, Mahindra, Reliance, RPG, Tata Administrative Service (TAS), Future Group, General Electric (GE), Godrej, LnT and the Muthoot Group.

- The maximum offers in this sector were made by ABG, eight offers.

- Over the last year, the number of offers in this section increased by 40 per cent.

- Variety of profiles, including operations, was offers by Godrej.

- Future Group offered the project directly from CEO's office related to their retail expansion plans.

Technology

Microsoft, CISCO, Samsung R&D Institute (SRI), Philips, Sandisk, IBM, Wipro, HCL, Siemens, Nucleus Software etc.

- Tech sensing role was offered by SRI.

- Microsoft offered roles such as IDC, Sales & Marketing and HR.

Healthcare

Abbott, GSK Pharma, Biogen IDEC, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Alembic Pharma, Novartis and Roche

- Various roles were offered in Sales & Marketing, Operations and HR domains.

- Amazon offered internship for its Operations role.

- Students favoured Tata Steel, Emerson, Hero Moto Corp, Cummins for manufacturing domain.

- United Colors of Benneton (UCB), Sodexo, World Resources Institute and IndiaBulls were the new recruiters at XLRI.
