All TN parties must work together to end NEET: CM MK Stalin
On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin said in the state assembly that all parties in the state must come together to end National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
He tweeted, "#NEET We must all come together and give voice to overcoming party differences on the issue! Retired Justice Mr. The report of the AK Rajan Committee will be considered legally and the relevant bill will be brought up in this series of meetings."
"I have no different opinion on the fact that a joint fight should be put up against NEET and to realise it A K Rajan commission was formed to analyse about NEET and the commission has also submitted its report. State government will hold discussion with legal experts and a resolution against NEET will be introduced in the ongoing assembly session", said Stalin, in the assembly.
He also assured that a resolution against NEET will be introduced soon. The present Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party had established a committee led by the retired judge of the Madras High Court, Justice AK Rajan, to study the impact of NEET on students of marginalised communities and backward classes.
Stalin had also written to the prime minister, Narendra Modi, to cancel the NEET-UG citing the pandemic situation. The state has been demanding to cancel NEET for a long time. Even students and doctors from the state want this and the opposition AIADMK which is a BJP's ally in the state is also against the national-level medical exam.
