Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said his government will establish 75 new medical colleges before Assembly election 2022.

While addressing an event in the Saiyyedraja area of Chandauli, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath said that his government will establish medical colleges in each of 75 districts of the state before the Assembly election, 2022.

He laid the foundation stone of the medical college in Chandauli and said that the medical college will be named after the Aghor Panth's legendary Spiritual Guru, Baba Keenaram. The college is being constructed with an investment of Rs 250 crore. Yogi Adityanath said that the 500-bed hospital will bring advanced medical facilities for the people of Chandauli and also for the neighbouring Bihar.

PGURUS quoted Yogi Adityanath "No one imagined that districts like Chandauli, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, and Ghazipur would have medical colleges. The visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it possible."

"The work for construction of a medical college in Chandauli has begun while Ghazipur's medical college will start operating soon. Before going to the 2022 Assembly, we will ensure the establishment of a medical college in each UP district," he added.

In August 2019, the Central government had approved the establishment of 75 new medical colleges in the country by 2021-2022 to add 15,700 more MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery) seats in India. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) notification in this regard stated that preference will be given to district hospitals with 300 beds.
