Delhi government to reopen medical colleges with immediate effect

Medical Colleges Reopening: According to the latest update, the state government of Delhi ordered the reopening of medical colleges under the UT government with immediate effect. The reports also suggest that the decision regarding the reopening of the Delhi medical colleges is taken considering a reduction in the number of novel coronavirus cases in the national capital and risk assessment of the current situation. The government decided to reopen the medical colleges observing social distancing norms and SOPs released by the health ministry in order to contain the virus spread.
According to the media reports, the Delhi government stated that "in the first instance the first year MBBS/BDS batch will be called in a staggered manner. Teaching and practical will be completed within one and a half to two months from the date of re-opening of college. Subsequently, final year students will be allowed to join college." Talking about the final students rejoining the college, the government said, final year students will be eligible to appear in final year annual exams on successful training, on the passing of which they will be eligible to join as interns. Thereafter, the process will be initiated for permitting second-year MBBS/BDS students to rejoin college. Meanwhile, it is expected that Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank will be announcing the NEET 2021 dates by the end of January.
