Different options to go with if NEET score is low
By: Sachin Kumar Singh
Students must not consider low scores in the competitive exam as the end of the road, instead, look out for other options and make wise decisions.
A low score in NEET can be disappointing, but it is not the end of the road. There Scoring low in any entrance exam is a nightmare for every student. There are scenarios where students secure fewer marks in the exams even after preparation. In such scenarios, students must not worry about the results and never lose hope, as they would have given their best in the exam, instead they should now focus on the options available to them.
As we all know that the counselling rounds for the engineering entrances are scheduled earlier than the medical counselling.
The first and foremost thing that every student must keep in mind is that one cannot get admission into any of the medical colleges, be it private or government, without appearing for the NEET exam. The students could also get into AIIMS and JIPMER MBBS if their NEET score is on the merit list for MBBS. The MBBS degree would be of no value if the college is not approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
Options to Explore with Low Score in NEET
In case, the student is appeared for the first time and is passionate about NEET only, then they could give themselves and could drop the year to prepare again. But in my opinion, those who have appeared for the second time could look for different available options instead of going for NEET once again.
If one was enrolled in any coaching centre last year, then this year, they could enrol only for test series and prepare at home. It is highly advised that every NEET aspirant should stay away from social media to avoid any distractions. The most important thing for students dropping a year to prepare for the exam again is to evaluate whether a drop year would prove beneficial for them or not.
Also, enrol in any good coaching institute for at least one year, as this would provide direction to get good results.
The students should also wait for the subsequent round of counselling as there could be a possibility that they might get admission if their score is more than the cut-off.
In my opinion, in the case of dropping a year, one should discuss the pros and cons of the decision in detail with their parents, teachers, or seniors.
There are other options available for students such as Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology, Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Biomedical Engineering, Dairy Farming, Food Technology, etc. Hence, students must not consider this as the end of the road, instead, they must look out for other options. Also, get complete details about these options before choosing one.
Genetic Engineering is also a good option to excel. So, search for the colleges which offer these courses.
