NTA has said that the alleged NEET paper leak case in Jaipur cannot be called a leak just yet.

This year, National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) has been surrounded by many controversies even before the exam was conducted on September 12, Sunday. The recent one is the alleged paper leak incident in one of the exam centres in Jaipur, where eight accused were arrested including one candidate and an invigilator.

After the paper leak incident, the NEET 2021 aspirants have been demanding a proper investigation into the matter and also a re-examination.

Now, the NTA (National Testing Agency) has confirmed that it cannot be called a leak just yet. The exam conducting body has told the Dainik Bhaskar publication that in the alleged incident where the question paper was sent through Whatsapp to a student named Dineshwari Kumari in Jaipur, there is no confirmation yet that the question paper was circulated widely. Hence, as per the NTA, this incident cannot be labelled as the paper leak incident without any further confirmation.

Notably, the use of electronic devices including cameras and mobile phones were not allowed inside the exam centres. Hence, how the question paper was photographed and circulated have raised serious doubts on the integrity of NTA. The police are investing the case.

The result of the candidate arrested in this case will be withheld and she can even be debarred from appearing in the NEET exam for up to the next three years.

Other controversies surrounding NEET 2021

Earlier, there was a demand to postpone the examination to October as one section of the students said that the exam date is clashing with other significant exam dates, which the Supreme Court, Education Ministry and NTA had rejected.

Then there was a rumour of the paper leak one day before the examination, which NTA had dismissed.
