NEET 2020 exam postponed due to COVID-19
Putting all the guesswork to an end, the news of NEET 2020 being postponed finally gives relief to the medical aspirants. The new dates for NEET 2020 examination will be announced post April 15.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the largest medical entrance exam in India, has been postponed. NEET 2020 was scheduled to be held on May 3. Theories of the exam being postponed were already in the air for the past few days. However, the confirmation came in when Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Union Minister for Human Resource Development, tweeted that he had directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to postpone the examination due to the spread of novel coronavirus in India. He also suggested that those preparing for NEET 2020 must make the most of this time and strengthen their preparation.
The tweet read “Since Parents and Students have to travel to different examination centres, to avoid any inconvenience to them, I have directed National Testing Agency @DG_NTA to postpone NEET (UG) 2020 and JEE(Main) till last week of May.”
NEET is conducted for admission to various undergraduate courses in India. This year 15,93,452 candidates have applied for NEET 2020. The admit card of NEET 2020 was scheduled to be released on March 27 but was deferred due to speculations over the exam date. A revised schedule for NEET 2020 admit card, exam date and other events will be released after April 15.
What is the expected date for NEET 2020?
According to the latest notification released by the NTA, NEET 2020 is expected to be conducted in the last week of May. NTA also advised the aspirants to use this time to prepare better.
