Urging the students and parents to respect the decision of SC on JEE Main/NEET 2020 exam dates, Union Minster clarifies that the examinations will not be postponed.

Bringing the debate about NEET 2020/JEE Main exam dates to an end, the Minister of Education, Dr Ramesh Nishank Pokhriyal clarified that both the examinations will be conducted on the scheduled dates in September. JEE Main 2020 is scheduled to be held from September 1-6. NEET 2020 will be conducted on September 13.

In an interview with the DD News on the National Education Policy 2020, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal spoke about both the national-level entrance examinations. Dr Pokhiryal revealed that most of the candidates who are to appear for the JEE Main 2020 have already downloaded their admit cards. He also indicated that the government is acting in accordance with the judgement of the Supreme Court of India. Reading the judgment of the apex court, he quoted โ€œIn our opinion, though there is pandemic situation, but ultimately life has to go and the career of the students cannot be put on peril for long and full academic year cannot be wastedโ€.

Adding to this, Dr Pokriyal also stated that they have received numerous requests from students and parents, urging them not to postpone NEET 2020/JEE Main further. He expressed that the parents are worried about the mental health of their children and want their preparation to end.

He also mentioned that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has taken care of all the necessary precautions for the exam day. The number of exam centres for both NEET 2020 and JEE Main has been increased, due to which, each centre will have not more than 100-150 students. He also stated that nearly 450 students have submitted a request for a change in their exam centres, which is also being taken care off by NTA.
