NEET 2020 is the only entrance test for admission to various undergraduate medical courses in India. Candidates usually start preparing for NEET in Class XI, which gives them around two years to complete their preparation. Some students prepare for a year or two after Class XII to get admission to their desired course or college. Such students, who have spent years preparing for NEET 2020, are under immense pressure owing to the uncertainty around the exam dates. NEET 2020 preparation without a target date is demotivating for its aspirants. Also, candidates who are well prepared for the examination want to give the examination and get over with it.
The letter to NTA was an attempt to highlight the issues of these students, who are under stress not because of the COVID-19 situation in India, but because they fear that their efforts will go waste if NEET 2020 exam date is rescheduled.
