Her journey is not only an inspiration but also a motivation for many to do their best and believe in hard work. In an exclusive interview with Shiksha.com, Dr. Aarushi Narwani talks about her preparation tips, her strategies and many other important things to excel in the NEET PG exam.

Q. Congratulations on not only securing the first position in NEET PG 2023 but also becoming the second woman to do so. How are you feeling about your achievement?
A. I am still trying to accept it. It is an overwhelming feeling. I somewhere knew that I will clear the exam, but I never expected this.

Q:   Which topics will have more weightage in NEET PG 2025 exam?

A:

NBE, the exam conducting body may release the weightage of each topics for NEET PG 2024 exam. Last year maximum questions were asked from topics such as anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, pathology, microbiology, pharmacology, general medicine, obstetrics, gyanaecology, general medicine etc. More than 50% question were clinical based. According to exam taking students, more than 30 questions were image-based. Candidates are advised to prepare clinical section well so that they can score full marks in the clinical part.

Q:   Is NEET PG tougher than NEET?

A:

Yes. NEET PG is hard in comparison to NEET. The reason being NEET PG is postgraduate level exam while NEET is conducted at undergraduate level. Another reason is, there are lesser number of PG seats than MBBS seats for candidates. Managing time for NEET PG preparation for candidates is very difficult task as they have to manage college, internship and preparation all three together. In NEET PG, competition is among best minds who all are doctors.

Subjectwise also NEET PG is tough as candidates have to prepare more than 15 subjects while in NEET only 4 subjects are there. In nutshell, NEET PG is tougher as it tests knowledge of candidates at postgraduate level while NEET is just an entry level of exam for MBBS.

Q:   Does NTA conduct NEET PG like NEET?

A:

No. National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts NEET PG unlike NEET which is held by NTA. Candidates must note NBE only conducts NEET PG exam while NEET PG counselling is held by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for seat allotment. NEET PG exam is held anually in computer-based mode. Candidates have to register online to submit NEET PG application form. It must be noted NBE only accepts online application and any other modes of application is rejected. NEET PG question paper comprises 200 multiple choice questions and candidates get 3.5 hours to answer them.

Q. Did you always want to be a Doctor?
A. As a child, I had no such plan. I never thought I will follow my parents’ footsteps and become a doctor. However, when I was in Class 12, I started developing an interest in Biology and it became my favorite subject. And later when I started thinking about my career options I decided to give the medical stream a chance.

A. I was just sticking to one source for knowledge and listening to my professors and coaches.I only read the notes and books given by my coaching institute and professors.

Q. While preparing for NEET PG 2023 exam, did you take any mock tests?
A.  I did appear for the practise exams, as well as the mini and grand tests. In the first month of my internship, I began administering GTs. I used to go over all the questions I got wrong and all the ones I got right after taking a GT, but I wasn't really convinced about it. I used to go back and review those topics in my notes. After covering mock exams, I always use to compare my ranks with the ranks of toppers.

Q. Any advice for future medical aspirants?
A. No matter how you feel, study a bit on bad your bad day.  The harder you work, the bright your stars shine. To succeed in NEET-PG, consistency is crucial. The harder, you work today, the brighter you shine tomorrow.
