NEET 2021 Dates: What we know so far
In one of his webinars, while interacting with the students, the Education Minister stated that National Testing Agency is considering conducting NEET twice this year. However, no possible months or dates have been divulged so far. Experts have maintained that NEET 2021 dates cannot be shared until most of the board exam dates are announced. According to an academician associated with NEET prep for many years, “NEET 2021 cannot be conducted in May 2021 but June and July are possible. Given the decision taken by the Education Ministry so far in regards to competitive and board examinations, date of June and July is not ruled out. We are hopeful but the logistics are different!.”
Considering that Mr Pokhriyal will be announcing JEE advanced dates today, i.e. January 7, 2021, it is expected that decision regarding the conduction of NEET 2021 will out soon as well. Sources close to the National Testing Agency have shared that the discussions on NEET 2021 examination are underway. On the other hand, there are some experts who believe that conducting NEET twice a year would not possible as NEET is not like JEE Main. The expert stated, "While both are national level examinations, NEET being a pen and paper and single exam for MBBS and BDS admissions makes it unique and one of a kind in the world. About 16 lakh candidates appear for the examination, making it possibly the largest national entrance exam as such. Conducting the exam twice may not be feasible but given the pandemic, some possibilities must be considered and steps taken.”
