Ahead of the NEET-UG 2021 counselling by MCC, NTA has issued a notice related to the age factor in the tie-breaking method for NEET counselling 2021.

Now, when NTA (National Testing Agency) declared the NEET results 2021, candidates are waiting for the NEET UG 2021 counselling dates which the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will soon announce on its official website mcc.nic.in.

NTA has clarified on age factor in the tie-breaking method for NEET 2021 counselling through an official notification.

The first All India Rank for counselling was released without considering tie-breaking age criteria. Consequently, three NEET 2021 candidates shared the top rank in the NEET UG 2021 and the fifth rank was shared by 12 NEET 2021 candidates. For the second All India Rank for NEET counselling 2021, unique ranks are required and hence it will take into account the age factor for the tie-breaking method.

NTA notification reads, " The first ‘All India Rank for Counseling’ is without the tie-breaking criteria of age. However, since for the purpose of counselling unique ranks are required, the second ‘All India Rank for Counseling’ also takes into account the tiebreaking criteria of age."

"In view of the foregoing, in place of the first ‘All India Rank for Counseling’, a new field “NEET All India Rank” has been mentioned for more clarity," the NTA notification added.

This year, more than 16 lakh students appeared for NEET 2021 and the results were declared on November 1 at NTA's official website neet.nta.nic.in. The NEET 2021 scorecards were also sent to the registered email-ids of the candidates.
