NTA responds to NEET aspirants' demand of multiple attempts
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has confirmed that a proposal to offer more attempts to National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) aspirants in a year was under "active consideration".
While speaking to a media house, NTA Director-General Vineet Joshi said the matter is still being discussed but not for this year.
"This is under active consideration and is being discussed. Final call rests with the Health Ministry," Joshi said.
This year, NEET-PG and NEET-UG are scheduled to be held on September 11 and 12, respectively. Vineet Joshi also dismissed the demands for postponing NEET exams amid coronavirus concerns, travel issues and changes in the exam pattern. However, he said that certain options have been rolled out to help the students.
"There are no changes in the exam pattern per se. Infact, certain options have been rolled out to help the students. This time, each subject will comprise of two sections. Section A will have 35 questions and Section B will consist of 15 questions. Out of these 15, candidates can choose to attempt any 10 questions. So, the total number of questions and utilisation of time will remain the same," he explained.
Earlier, NEET included 180 objective-type questions grom Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
The demand for giving multiple attempts to NEET aspirants was getting louder ever since the Education Minister announced to offer four attempts in a year to the engineering entrance aspirants for attending JEE(Joint Entrance Examination)-Main 2021 onward.
