Postpone NEET 2020 Exam Date: Parents’ Association of India to MoHFW

The discomfort of the parents in sending their children to the exam centres of NEET 2020 has become evident. In their letter to MoHFW, the Parents’ Association demands the postponement of NEET 2020.

Joining the students who have been protesting against the current NEET 2020 exam date, the Parents’ Association of India has written a letter to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to postpone the examination. The Parents’ Association has listed sixteen reasons as to why the Ministry should postpone NEET 2020. The association feels that postponing the examination will be good for the entire nation, given the nature of COVID-19.

NEET 2020 is scheduled to be held on July 26. The students have been protesting against the examination being conducted amidst an ongoing pandemic for the past few weeks. However, the authorities have kept mum on this issue. The students are waiting anxiously for any announcement related to the NEET exam date 2020 from the authorities.

The parents have expressed their concern for their children in the letter to MoHFW. They have highlighted the problems that the students will face on the NEET 2020 exam day if it is not postponed. Some of the reasons listed by the Parents’ Association in the letter are:

  • Students can get infected with COVID-19 at the exam centres
  • Infected students can transmit the disease to their respective families and act as carriers
  • It is impossible to follow social distancing given the number of test-takers for NEET 2020
  • The extension of lockdown in many parts of the country
  • Students residing in containment zones may face a series of problems on the exam day
  • The limping public transportation and lack of other facilities

With nearly 15,000 new COVID-19 cases being reported each day, the association feels that the NEET 2020 exam date should be postponed till the peak subsides. The association also emphasizes that who will be responsible if anything happens to any student. Both students and parents now wait for the final verdict on NEET 2020 dates.
