Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Indian Embassy asks Indian to leave Kharkiv by 6 PM

The Embassy has stated that those students who cannot find vehicles or buses can proceed on foot to Pisochyn (11 KM) Babai (12 KM) and Bezlyudivka (16 KM).

Indian Embassy in Kyiv has issued an urgent advisory to Indian nationals in Kharkiv to leave the city immediately. The Embassy has advised students to reach Pesochin, Babaye and Bezlyudovka settlements under all circumstances.

Yesterday an Indian student, Naveen Shekharappa G from Karnataka, a fourth-year student at the Kharkiv National Medical University was killed in a bomb blast by Russian forces.

The statement from Embassy reads: “THIS IS AN URGENT ADVISORY TO ALL INDIAN NATIONALS IN KHARKIV. FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY AND SECURITY THEY MUST LEAVE KHARKIV IMMEDIATELY REPEAT IMMEDIATELY IN THE LIGHT OF THE DETERIORATING SITUATION. THEY SHOULD PROCEED TO PESOCHYN, BABAI AND BEZLYUDIVKA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE FOR THEIR SAFETY.”

The Embassy has stated that those students who cannot find vehicles or buses can proceed on foot to Pisochyn (11 KM) Babai (12 KM) and Bezlyudivka (16 KM).

The Indian embassy in Poland had also issued an urgent advisory to Indian nationals in Ukraine, to travel at the earliest to the Budomierz border for a quick entry into Poland.

Leave Kharkiv by 6 PM.

In multiple tweets, Indian Embassy, which had to stop operations in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv yesterday has asked Indians to reach Pesochin, Babaye or Bezlyudovka latest by 6 pm local time (9.30 pm IST).

India is carrying out a massive evacuation exercise, Operation Ganga to bring back Indians, most of them students, stranded in Ukraine.

On the other hand, Russian Ambassador-designate Denis Alipov has said that Russia will do everything it possibly can to ensure the safety of Indian citizens in the areas of intense conflict... and a proper investigation of this unfortunate incident.
