By: T. Keerthi
Students often face many questions like what are the options available, what should be their next step when they secure low marks in a competitive exam like Indian Army B.Sc Nursing. Research and explore options without deviating from the path.
1. What are the options available if Indian Army B. Sc nursing or MNS (Military Nursing Service) score is low or below expectations?
A: In such a scenario, explore other opportunities such as state level nursing exams to pursue Nursing.
2. Whether a student should drop a year or not?
The decision of dropping a year may vary from person to person. From my personal experience, I secured less marks in the first attempt in MNS. I decided to prepare again for MNS. During my preparation, I saw an update from NTR Health University, Vijayawada to study BSc Nursing. I decided to pursue B.Sc Nursing. Hence, I applied for the same and got selected in the merit list. During my counselling, I selected some of the government colleges. Finally, I got admission in Government College of Nursing RIMS Kadapa. While pursuing B.Sc Nursing, I am preparing for MNS as well.
3. Best colleges one can get with a low score
There are many best colleges for nursing in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is very easy to secure a seat in government colleges as there is no entrance examination, interview to study nursing in the state of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Students are selected basis marks in intermediate.

4. Should one wait for the subsequent counselling sessions?
If a student gets low cut-off marks, it is better to leave counselling, in between this time you can prepare well for next time. On the other hand, if a student gets more than cut-off marks, it is always advised to wait for counselling as there is some chance to get a seat.
5. Should one opt to attempt MNS again?
Students interested to study MNS only could re-attempt the examination. Also, keep in mind that there is a specified age for students to apply for MNS. Work towards clearing the exam in the first attempt itself. Cover every subject, study well for the exam to secure a seat in MNS within the particular age. Students could attend coaching classes to join Indian Army B.Sc nursing course as the competition is high and the exam pattern is a bit difficult.
