Yogi Adityanath issues Ayushman Bharat cards in Lucknow
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued Ayushman Bharat cards to Antyodaya cardholders in Lucknow.
After promising medical colleges in each district of Uttar Pradesh before the Assembly election in 2022, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is also working towards extending the health care benefits to those below the poverty line. The latest is, he has issued Ayushman Bharat cards to Antyodaya cardholders in Lucknow.
In the next few days, the Ayushman cards will be distributed to more than 40 lakh Antyodaya ration cardholders families across the state and nearly more than 1.30 crore people will be provided with a health cover of INR 5 lakh per family per year.
Yogi had directed all district administrations to prepare a list of beneficiaries under different welfare schemes and link them at the earliest. In line with his promise to sanction one medical college for each district of Uttar Pradesh before the end of his tenure, the Yogi government has extended the Ayushman Bharat health cover to 1 lakh beneficiaries.
Yogi said, "Despite having the highest population in the country and 40 lakh migrant workers who returned to the state during the pandemic, UP arrested the spread of the pandemic through sustained, organised and coordinated efforts, coupled with micro-planning and alertness."
He also lauded the work done by his government in strengthening the healthcare infrastructure in the state. He said that between the period of 1947 and 2016, in UP, there were only 15 medical colleges, and work was being done to set up 49 medical colleges.
"From 1947 to 2000, there was only one AIIMS. Between 2000 and 2004, then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee started work on six AIIMS. Currently, work is taking place on 22 AIIMS," he added.
