NIRF 2020 Ranking for Pharmacy Colleges: Jamia Hamdard Tops the List
In a first NIRF has released the list of top Pharmacy Colleges in India. The list will make it easier for the aspirants in choosing the best of the lot. Read this article to know which Pharmacy colleges across India has made it to this list of prestigious institutes.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a ranking system introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, to rank institutions serving higher education in India. On June 11, 2020 through a Live Webinar hosted by Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Union Minister, HRD. Presenting the rankings for the Pharmacy colleges for the first time, ranked Jamia Hamdard, Delhi as the top institute to pursue Pharmacy education, followed by Punjab University and National Institute of Pharmaceutical (NIPER) Mohali on the third spot.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) had released the first ever rankings on April 4, 2016. NIRF was launched in 2015. On the basis of the several parameters set by the core committee to determine the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings for the institutes across India. There are five basic parameters that determine the NIRF rankings. These parameters along with their weightage are given in the table below.

However, this is the first time that NIRF has released the rankings for the Pharmacy colleges in India. As many as 334 Pharmacy institutes took part in the NIRF rankings for the year 2020. From the 334 colleges, NIRF has shortlisted and ranked 75 institutes from across India. The list will help the candidates to compare two institutes in order to choose the best. Earlier, the only parameter which was generally used was that of the college fee and the faculty. NIRF rankings are the most trusted and valued rankings. The rankings are considered being the most fair and effective. Given in the table below, is a list of the top 20 Pharmacy colleges according to their NIRF ranking. Candidates can refer to this list before choosing a Pharmacy college for themselves.
