The NIRF Ranking 2023, announced by the Minister of State for Education and External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh brings a new wave of pharmacy institutes among the top rankers in the NIRF Ranking 2023 compared to the previous year. In 2023, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Hyderabad has bagged the first position in the NIRF pharmacy ranking 2023 released by the Govt. of India, for the top Pharmacy Colleges in India. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking has been released on June 5, 2023. Jamia Hamdard, which secured the first position last year, stands at the second position in 2023, followed by BITS Pilani, JSS College of Pharmacy, and Institute of Chemical Technology Mumbai among the top 5 institutes in the top pharmacy colleges in 2023 ranking.

In the NIRF 2023 ranking, NIPER Hyderabad has leveled up to the first position as a premier pharmacy college in India. National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Hyderabad, Mohali has secured 1st and 6th positions respectively among the top 10 pharmacy institutes in India. while NIPER Guwahati, Ahmedabad, and Raebareli lost their position among the top 10 colleges. Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS Pilani) continues to remain among the top 5 leading pharmacy colleges in the country.

The MOE, NIRF 2023 ranking is announced for 9 broad categories. The rankings for Architecture, Medical, and Law were introduced for the first time in 2018. In the list of 100 entries, only 75 participants made their place in the list of top Pharmacy colleges. This number has witnessed an increase of 15 as compared to last year’s ranking where only 50 colleges bagged a place in the list.

Q:   Is GPAT necessary for admission in NIPER?

A:
No, for admission to NIPER institutes, it is important for candidates to appear for their personalised entrance exam which is NIPER JEE. Interested candidates will be able to seek admission to post-graduate level course such as MS (Pharma) /MPharm/ M.Tech. (Pharma). GPAT exam is another national-level post-graduate level pharmacy entrance exam required for admission to 800 participating institutes across India. Unlike NIPER, it is conducted by National Testing Agency NTA from 2018. Prior to NTA AICTE used to conduct the GPAT exam.

Q:   How many seats are offered by the NIPER institutes for admission to M.Pharma programme?

A:
There are around 1,050 seats in all NIPER seven campuses this year. The seven NIPER campuses are: NIPER, Ahmedabad NIPER, Guwahati NIPER, Hajipur NIPER, Hyderabad NIPER, Kolkata NIPER, Raebareli NIPER S. A. S Nagar (Mohali). .

Q:   How many institutes will be participating in GPAT exam?

A:

The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) is an annual all-India examination conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to evaluate candidates for admission to Master's (M. Pharm) programs in pharmacy.  The exam will be conducted in online/computer-based mode. The syllabus and pattern of the question paper remain the same under NTAA total of 800 pharmaceutical participating institutes are expected to participate in GPAT 2025. The participating institutes include prominent colleges, universities, and institutions that offer M.Pharm courses and are AICTE approved

Q:   How many students appeared in the GPAT 2023 exam?

A:

NTA has released the official statistics of the candidates who filled the GPAT application form. According to NTA, as many as 68,439 candidates registered for the exam and 62,275 candidates appeared for the exam. GPAT 2023 was conducted in 116 cities in 221 centres in a computer-based mode.  A total of 50,508 students appeared for the GPAT exam last year as per the official data shared by NTA.

Q:   How many colleges accept GPAT entrance exam score?

A:

Candidates can apply for admission to around 600+ colleges through the GPAT scores. GPAT is the national-level MPharma entrance exam. Most of the institutes offering Master's in Pharmacy accept GPAT score for grating admission provided that the candidates clear the cutoff of the targeted institute.

Q:   How many seats are there in NIPER institutes?

A:

The number of seat varies from courses to courses. For MBA courses there are 90 seats while for MS Pharma/MPharma the number of seats for which counselling is being conducted this year is 718. 

Applicants fulfilling the eligibility for different courses were invited further to appear for the counselling. 

Q:   What is the last date for fee payment to seek admission in NIPER institute?

A:

The authorities have not released the official dates to conduct the NIPER JEE 2024 counselling or make payment. It will be update on the page once it is released. 

Q:   Which institutes accept the NIPER JEE scores?

A:
NIPER JEE scores are only accepted by the NIPER institutes. There are seven NIPER institutes across India, NIPER Ahmedabad, NIPER Guwahati, NIPER Hajipur, NIPER Hyderabad, NIPER Kolkata, NIPER Raebareli, NIPER SAS Nagar (Mohali). Candidates have to attend the counselling before a Personal Interview . According to the choice of selected college, candidates will be allotted seats as per their merit. After the seats are allotted, candidates have to submit the admission fee and the tuition fee at the allotted institutes and attend the classes on the prescribed dates.
