Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is an independent organisation and a registered society set up in 2006 under a public-private initiative. The organisation was set up with an aim to strengthen training, research and policy development in the area of public health.

Among PHFI’s various initiatives towards a healthier India, one of the significant step is building Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPH) in five cities across India:

• IIPH Gandhinagar, Gujarat
• IIPH Delhi
• IIPH Bhubaneswar, Orissa
• IIPH Hyderabad, Telangana
• IIPH Shillong, Meghalaya

All the IIPHs in India offer long-term and short-term public health courses in offline (on-campus) and online (e-learning) modes at undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG) and doctorate (PhD) levels. Courses Offered at PHFI IIPH Gandhinagar, Gujarat

Indian Institute of Public Health, Gandhinagar was first established in Ahmedabad in 2008. The institute was established after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Government of Gujarat and PHFI. Later, in 2015, under the IIPHG Act 2015 of Gujarat State, the institute was recognised as a university to become India’s first public health university. The university got its permanent campus in Gandhinagar in 2016.     

Currently, the University’s state-of-the-art campus is located on a 50-acre lush green land in Gandhinagar with top-notch research facilities and laboratories. On-campus courses offered at PHFI IIPH Gandhinagar University include:

Indian Institute of Public Health, Delhi started its operations in 2008 with the launch of PG Diploma in Health Economics, Health Care Financing and Health Policy Program. On-campus UG and PG courses offered at the institute include:

IIPH Shillong was established by PHFI in collaboration with the Government of Meghalaya to address the public health education and research needs of north-eastern region of the country. Currently, the institute houses two research centres mentioned below:
