Ahead of JIPMER MBBS admission counselling, as many as 14 students selected in NEET-UG 2021 found their names missing for Puducherry quota seats.

14 qualified NEET-UG 2021 students found their names missing from the Puducherry domicile students list who would get admission under the Puducherry quota in the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) MBBS course.

Puducherry Director of Health and Family Welfare and Nodal officer NEET Dr G Sriramulu has requested MCC, DGHS, to enable 'Puducherry Domicile' in the MCC website to provide these students with an opportunity to enrol in the JIPMER MBBS counselling.

The students had complained to the state government with documents. They also got the support of Puducherry students and parents welfare association President V Balasubramanian.

Dr G Sriramulu has written to Dr B Srinivas ADG (ME) & Member Secretary of MCC, DGHS, to correct the list by including these students.

He also said that the Puducherry government had segregated the list of 5,025 domicile students from the NEET UG 2021 results and also published on the website of the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services, Puducherry. The list of these students has also been forwarded to JIPMER. However, later many students complained that their names are missing from the domicile list and after verification, it was found that the names of these students are there as students from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala instead of Puducherry on the NEET application.

JIPMER has been requested to allow these students for counselling after verifying the residential proof issued by the competent authority. However, JIPMER has informed that they will send only the names of 5,025 candidates to MCC for admission whose state was selected as Puducherry, hence, the 14 students don't stand a chance to get admission in JIPMER and are unable to enrol for registration for JIPMER MBBS counselling.

G Sriramulu has requested the inclusion of 'Native State' in the NEET application to avoid any such issues in the future.
