The new junior colleges are Bethamcherla (Boys) in Nandyal district of Dhone Assembly constituency, Sadum (Boys) in Punganur constituency of Chittoor district and Amadalavalasa (Girls) College in Srikakulam district.
Krishna Mohan, secretary of the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Gurukula Vidyalayas, said three more new junior colleges have been sanctioned under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Andhra Pradesh BC Welfare Gurukula Vidyalayas. The new colleges are Bethamcherla (Boys) in Nandyal district of Dhone Assembly constituency, Sadum (Boys) in Punganur constituency of Chittoor district and Amadalavalasa (Girls) College in Srikakulam district. He said there were already 14 junior colleges in the state and with the newly sanctioned ones, the number has gone up to 17.
Krishna Mohan said the new junior colleges were started in the current academic year and 40 MPC and 40 BiPC seats had been allotted in each college. He said there were a total of 105 gurukuls under the BC Gurukula Vidyalayas organisation in the state. He said 17 of them were junior colleges, while the remaining 88 schools conducted classes from fifth to 10th standard. A total of 44,000 students are studying in these educational institutions.
Regarding the performance of BC Gurukul students in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), Krishna Mohan said BC Gurukul students had performed well in the examinations. He said according to their results, four medical seats, one dental seat, four veterinary seats and four agriculture BSc seats were likely to be secured. Six students are likely to get IIT, NIT, IIIT seats and 24 pupils may secure engineering seats.
