While all those children who have tested positive have been isolated in the school premises itself and arrangements have been made for them, the children who came negative in will have a rapid antigen test and following that they would be discharged.

More than 85 students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya have tested positive for COVID-19 in Nainital's Gangarkote. As per the Deputy Collector, Rahul Shah, initially only 11 students has tested positive for COVID-19. After that Uttarakhand Health Department had set up a testing camp and took around 496 samples in which 85 children were found to be COVID-19 positive.

"After the coronavirus cases came to light, the school was transformed into a micro-containment zone on the instructions of the Deputy Collector, Rahul Sah", said an official.

While all those children who have tested positive have been isolated in the school premises itself and arrangement have been made for them, the children who came negative in the RTPCR test will have a rapid antigen test and following that they would be discharged.

While speaking on the same, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami urged the people of the state that vigilance is necessary to protect one against the new COVID-19 variant Omicron. He said that everyone must follow the appropriate COVID-19 behaviour. "All preparations have been made by the government to protect against corona, but vigilance is very important to prevent it", said Dhami. 

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also launched a Free Mobile Tablet scheme for students. About 2 lakh 65 thousand students of Class 10 and 12 of degree colleges and state schools will get benefit from this scheme, as per government data.

"During the Corona period, children had to face lots of difficulties in taking online classes. Keeping in mind the problems that the children faced, tablets are being given to them by the government," he said.
