COVID-19 Outbreak: ICAI releases notice for CA May 2020 examinations ‘not’ postponed

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has released a notification clarifying the students that ‘no postponements’ have been done in the schedule of CA May 2020 examinations.  The institute added that, due to the Coronavirus outbreak in India, it has provided e-learning facilities including video lectures to the students preparing for CA May 2020 examinations. ICAI in an official notification published on March 23, stated that it is unclear until when the COVID-19 pandemic will continue, if need be, then it will postpone/ reschedule the May 2020 examinations. However, it will be confirmed only in the ‘next few days’ time.

The official notification also stated, ‘You may kindly be rest assured that the Institute stands committed for the welfare of its students and will take all suitable steps as and when the situation becomes more clearer and in the overall interest of its dear students. In the meantime, the students may concentrate on their studies for May 2020 ICAI Examinations and be not swayed by any misleading communications spreading through internet by unscrupulous sources. Students may also note that the ICAI website is the only source for the authenticity of the information and should not rely upon details circulating over social media’.

The examination schedule of ICAI May 2020 for CA Foundation, Intermediate and Final courses is as under:

In India, the casualties arising due to the pandemic is rising on an hourly basis, therefore, the entire country especially COVID-19 hit locations are in complete lockdown until March 31. Many educational institutions have rescheduled/ cancelled the examinations/ evaluations until April month. 

ICAI on March 21 had reopened the ‘application correction window’ for candidates to change the exam centres. The admit card of ICAI for May 2020 examinations will be issued only after the changes in the exam centres and dates is clarified.
