ICAI invites suggestions for Chartered Accountant exams
Feedback has been sought on many issues including the format of the question paper, system/ structure of the exam, marking scheme, evaluation process, among others.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) has invited suggestions from the students and all the stakeholders on CA exam processes and Chartered Accountant Regulations, 1988. The last date to submit the suggestions, if any, related to CA exams is November 10. The ICAI has stated that the suggestions should be brief and not more than 150 words.
The ICAI had formed a committee to overlook the CA exam process on September 26 after allegations of wrong evaluation came to the forefront. A committee was later formed to take views and suggestions on these issues from all the stakeholders and the students.
Feedback has been sought on many issues including the format of the question paper, system/ structure of the exam, marking scheme, evaluation process, among others.
In September 2019, thousands of CA students had protested against the ICAI over allegations of wrong evaluation. The students had alleged errors in the evaluation process of the CA answer sheets after their results for the June 2019 CA exam were declared in August. The students demanded changes in regulations to allow re-checking of the answer sheets.
The protest began after a CA had posted a video online showing a student not being marked correctly in the CA exam. The student had scored single-digit marks even after giving correct answers in the exam.
