UGC recognises CA, CS, ICWA exams equivalent to PG degree
Considering this latest development, candidates who qualify for the CA, CS, ICWA exams will now be equivalent to PG holders.
Chartered Accountant (CA), Company Secretary (CS), or Cost and Works Accountant (ICWA) exams will now be considered equivalent to a master’s degree. According to the latest reports, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has resolved that the Chartered Accountant (CA), Company Secretary (CS), or Cost and Works Accountant (ICWA) exams will be treated equivalent to a postgraduate degree.
Reports suggest that on March 15, 2021, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) informed that it has received a go-ahead from the UGC stating that CA Qualification will be treated equivalent to PG Degree. Considering this latest development, candidates who qualify the CA, CS, ICWA exams will now be equivalent to PG holders. Announcing the decision of the Council, ICAI on Monday took to social media and tweeted, “The University Grants Commission has resolved that CA Qualification will be treated equivalent to PG Degree based on requests submitted from ICAI. This will not only help CA’s for pursuing higher studies but will also facilitate the mobility of Indian CAs globally.” Check the official tweet shared by ICAI stating that Chartered Accountant (CA), Company Secretary (CS), or Cost and Works Accountant (ICWA) exams will be treated equivalent to a postgraduate degree below:
Praising UGC’s decision, CCM of ICAI, Dhiraj Khandelwal also tweeted that "Based on the representation made by ICAI, UGC approved CA/CS/ ICWA qualification equivalent to postgraduate degree. (PDG) . Wow.. it’s a great recognition to our profession."
