UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said while one committee will plan schedule for CUET, JEE, NEET to avoid date clash, another will review infrastructure of centres to ensure the exams are conducted smoothly.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has formed two expert committees to prepare annual schedule for all entrance exams. As per a report published in Hindustan Times, University Grants Commission (UGC) chairperson M Jagadesh Kumar said one committee will prepare the annual schedule for all entrance exams, including the Common Entrance University Test (CUET), the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), among others, to ensure that their dates do not overlap.
Technical glitches in CUET forced NTA to defer exams
Another panel will review the infrastructure of the test centres to ensure that the exams are conducted without glitches. The panels will have experts from Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and central universities. The debut edition of the CUET (undergraduate), which was conducted between July and August, witnessed various technical glitches, which forced NTA to defer the exams. The agency also had to reschedule some exams to avoid a clash with other entrance tests.
The UGC chairperson added: “Our main aim is to conduct CUET for undergraduate admissions twice from next year. Once we prepare the time schedule depending on the availability of dates, a decision will be taken.”
