All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) released a detailed set of guidelines and a revamped academic calendar for the Indian Technical Education Institutes to follow. The guidelines related to the ban imposed on hiking fees, online mode of teaching, conduction of pending eams as per UGC guidelines, etc are given below in detail.
AICTE Guidelines 2020 for Standalone PGDM / PGCM institutes
AICTE also released important guidelines to be followed by all stand-alone PGDM/PGCM institutes.
-
No fee hike for academic year 2020-21
The Council asked all the standalone institutes not to increase their fee for Academic Year 2020-21. According to AICTE, there is a ban on increasing admission fees or other additional fees in the new academic session.
-
Do not force students for fee payment
AICTE directed institutes not to force students for fees payment amid COVID-19 lockdown. The outbreak of the pandemic led to the cash crunch and economic crisis in the country. The Council released this guideline for such students who are unable to pay the admission fee and other charges during the lockdown.
-
Conduct Pending exams as per UGC guidelines 2020
The AICTE also ordered institutions to follow the guidelines prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to conduct pending exams for first-year students. The guidelines say that exam mode and promotion policy of existing students will be in line with the guidelines prescribed by the UGC.
-
Online Classes until MHRD Directive
According to AICTE guidelines 2020, all institutions must start the academic classes for existing students and new students as per the academic calendar released by it in online mode only. Institutes can shift to face-to-face or classroom teaching only after MHRD issues the necessary directive in this regard. In order to prevent academic loss of students, MHRD directed academic institutions to impart education using multiple modes of communication and technology such as internet, calls, SMS, email, e-learning platform, etc.
Meanwhile, Considering the postponed board exams and delayed results due to the nationwide lockdown imposed in the country in order to contain the contagious novel coronavirus, AICTE asked institutes to grant provisional admissions to PGDM and PGCM i.e. Certificate and Diploma Programmes in Management Courses.
