The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given nod to eight courses, that can be started from the academic year 2022-23 from the Amaravati campus.
The Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, a Deemed-to-be university, is all prepped up to launch an off-campus center at Amaravati. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has given nod to eight courses, that can be started from the academic year 2022-23 from the Amaravati campus.
From the academic year 2022-23, following are the courses that will be offered by the Amrita University:
- MSc Physics
- MSc Chemistry
- MSc Mathematics
- MSc Data Science
- MSc Computer Science
MSc courses in physics, chemistry and maths will be offered as five-year integrated courses as well as two-year master's courses, with this the number of programmes offered under these departments stands at six. For MSc courses in data science and computer science, there will be only five-year integrated courses. All courses except MSc Computer Science are allowed an intake of up to 60. However, MSc Computer Science is allowed to have up to 120 student-strength.
"The new course(s) at the Amaravati Campus shall be started by the deemed to be University only in accordance with the provisions of the prevailing UGC Regulations," said a notification from UGC.
Last Month, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham improved its ranking from 81st (2021) to 41st Rank in THE Impact Rankings 2022; the only global indicator to assess universities' progress toward the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Other than the overall rank, the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has also been ranked 8th in the world for Good Health and Well Being, 8th for Gender Equality, 15th for Clean Water and Sanitation, and 32nd for Quality Education.
