Anna University students told to submit anti-ragging undertaking
The anti-ragging affidavit is an undertaking by the student wherein he/she agrees to comply with the directives of the University Grants Commission against ragging and promise to refrain from ragging.
Anna University has issued a circular to affiliated colleges and universities to direct students and their guardians to upload an anti-ragging affidavit online.
Before the beginning of the new academic session, the University Grants Commission (UGC) had issued notices to all colleges regarding curbing ragging menace in the institutes. The commission had asked college authorities to form an anti-ragging committee before the beginning of the new academic session. It had also instructed them to display all the information related to anti-ragging committees within college campus.
Though there is an anti-ragging panel available in each engineering college, the commission has decided to ensure that the students upload an anti-ragging affidavit online.
The anti-ragging affidavit is an undertaking by the student wherein he/she agrees to comply with the directives of the UGC against ragging and promise to refrain from ragging.
In a circular, the university has urged principals and dean of all its affiliated engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu to begin an awareness campaign among the students regarding anti-ragging activities by displaying the UGC guidelines in colleges, departments, hostels and notice boards.
As per the revised guidelines, students need to fill a form and submit it on www.antiragging.in or amanmovement.org. They will receive an e-mail with a registration number and a web link. They are required to forward the email link to the nodal officer in their institutions. The nodal officer in respective colleges and universities will have to ensure that their students submit online anti-ragging undertakings on the prescribed websites.
