Around 10,000 NEET-UG Aspirants, Parents demand exam postponement
National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2022 will be conducted on July 17, 2022.
Around 10,000 NEET-UG 2022 aspirants have submitted a petition to the National Testing Agency (NTA), requesting the exam to be postponed by four to six weeks. The students are also launching a mega campaign on various social media platforms today to press for their demands.
All India JEE NEET Students Association (AIJNSA) have submitted a representation to NTA hoping that the authorities will consider their concerns and they will get a positive outcome soon. As per the association as many as 9980 NEET-UG, 2022 aspirants and parents have signed the petition.
It has been stated that many of the NEET aspirants and droppers from 2021 waited till the mop-up round of NEET 2021 counselling in hope of getting a medical seat but could not get one. The mop-up round ended in the first week of April. Even in many states, state counselling is not finished till now. This year many Students could not calculate their percentage of getting a seat due to the changed reservation policy in NEET 2021 counselling.
On April 6, the NTA announced that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2022 will be conducted on July 17, 2022. The students are claiming that many of the droppers and freshers are not getting enough time to prepare for NEET, as they got just three months.
NEET clashing with CUET, JEE, EAMCET
The students are also claiming that the JEE, CUET and some of the board exams are also scheduled in July thus creating confusion and anxiety among students. “NEET aspirants get only one attempt, not like JEE, moreover Many Board Exams are revolving around NEET-UG dates. Also, CUET is scheduled for the 1st and 2nd week of July and JEE mains second attempt is scheduled from 21 July 2022. In between NEET on 17 July will be a great burden for students,” reads the petition.
Pursuing MBBS is a dream of lakhs of students and the emotions of their parents and teachers are connected therewith.
Every year there is a minimum gap of six to seven months after counselling but this year students are hardly getting three months which has created anxiety among students. A large number of students taking both the JEE Mains and the NEET with the PCMB combination will be in trouble.
AIJNSA writes: “It's not fair to these aspirants as they cant change their preparation strategy at the last moment. Also, it should be duly noted that. JEE-MAIN has multiple attempts. while NEET-UG for which around 16-18 lakh students arc appearing, they have only once chance.”
They have requested the authorities to consider aspirants' genuine concerns and postpone the NEET UG 2022 by 4-6 weeks, it will be colossal solace for all the NEET-UG aspirants.
