MAKUAT includes Arts, Social Sciences in its curriculum
The courses like MSc in applied economic have been designed to build skills in economic reasoning and to train students in constructing and estimating economic models using quantitative techniques and econometrics.
Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) has announced that it will be including humanities, social science and allied course in its curriculum. The courses launched from Academic Year 2020-21, include MSc in applied economics, applied psychology, applied statistics and analytics and BSc in economics, psychology, and statistics.
While talking about the new courses included in the curriculum, MAKAUT, Vice-Chancellor, Saikat Maitra, said,” Looking at the growing career prospects and cope for achieving employability in multiple functions as well as in diverse industries, the course has been launched. Moreover, the institute will include state-of-the-art content, suitable for today’s digitized environment."
He further said that the courses like MSc in applied economic have been designed to build skills in economic reasoning and to train students in constructing and estimating economic models using quantitative techniques and econometrics. “It aims to build a firm understanding of the fundamental tools of economic analysis in students, for application in studies and analyses of economic issues and policies,” he added.
Sukhendu Samajdar, Director, Schools of Natural, Applied and Social Sciences, said,” introduction of full-time programmes in social and behavioral sciences will humanize the technical ambiance of the varsity campus.”
The university offers undergraduate courses in computer science and engineering, IT (artificial intelligence, big data analytics, cybersecurity, data science), bioinformatics, biotechnology, business administration, robotics and 3D printing and postgraduate programmes in microbiology, molecular biology, food science & technology, clinical genetics, geoinformatics and Ph.D. programmes. For taking admission into BTech, BArch and BPharm degree courses, a candidate has to secure qualifying marks in West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination.
