Mumbai to have India's first international-standard music college
Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant announced that the state government will set up a Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Government Music College in Mumbai.
Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Government Music College in Mumbai: On account of the 91st birthday of Bharat Ratna winner and evergreen playback singer of India, Lata Mangeshkar, Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant announced that the state government will set up a Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Government Music College in Mumbai. Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar was the father of well-known singers Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Meena Khadikar and Usha Mangeshkar as well as composer Hridaynath Mangeshkar. Paying a tribute to the man who gave India one of the best singers of all time, the state government decided to name the academy after Mr Dinanath's name as a tribute.
According to the reports, the decided music academic which is yet to be set up is planned to be India’s first music college of international standard and will produce the next generation of singers and songwriters.
On Monday, Septemeber 28, Uday Samant through his official Twitter handle, tweeted, "Under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the initiative of Aditya Thackeray, my department will establish an international standard Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Government Music College on the occasion of the birthday of Empress Lata Didi."
Music University proposed in Andhra Pradesh
In yet another push towards music education, on Sunday, i.e. September 27, 2020, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wrote a letter to YS Jaganmohan Reddy asking him to set up a music university in memory of the renowned playback singer, composer and artist late SP Balasubrahmanyam in Nellore town.
