UGC requests HEIs to celebrate Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav

UGC has requested all higher education institutions to celebrate Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav from September 28 to December 11, 2023.

University Grants Commission has requested all higher education institutions to celebrate Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav from September 28 to December 11, 2023.

"This will be an occasion to celebrate the diversity in unity of Indian languages and encourage the building of deeper connections in the hearts and minds of our youth. It will also encourage multilingualism as envisaged in the NEP-2020," reads UGC's official notification.

The Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav will be celebrated with the involvement of students, teachers, other staff, parents and the public from the HEIs across the country at every level including blocks and districts.

There will be exclusive exhibitions on "Bharatiya Bhasha" showcasing information about scripts, history of language, key historical figures, famous literature etc. and cultural, historical and spiritual unity of all Bharatiya Bhashas.

A tech zone featuring different tools and software for students that can be used for learning languages will be set up. The tech zone will include machines that can be used for translation, downloading and teaching few simple tools. 

"All the HEIs/INIs/Colleges are requested to make all-out efforts to celebrate Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav on the suggested themes from September 28 to December 11, 2023, with great vigour and make the event a grand success by volunteering for celebrating with their teachers, students and other staff with maximum participation. It is also desired that the organizers should ensure that wide media coverage is given to the Utsav through print, electronic, social media so that the joy of celebrating Bharatiya Bhasha can be shared with people across the country," added UGC notification.
