Assam government releases SOPs for the reopening of schools and higher educational institutions in the state.
Assam government has released the SOPs for reopening of schools and higher educational institutions from the state from September 21, adhering to strict COVID-19 protocols. The schools across the state will reopen for Classes 9 to 12. Schools and colleges across the country have been kept closed since mid-March due to coronavirus outbreak.
B Kalyan Chakravarthy, Principal Secretary, State Secondary Education Department, in a notification said that the SOPs will come into effect from September 21 and will be operative for the next 15 days. The SOPs will be modified after considering the situation for 15 days from September 21.
“We will be holding regular conferences with Deputy Commissioners, after reopening the institutions. Data of all students will be monitored closely and carefully. This is the first major step to take education back on track after the breakout of COVID-19,” he told a media house.
As per the general guidelines in the SOP, students from Classes 9 to 12 will be allowed to come to the schools and colleges, while all other classes will remain suspended. It further stated that for the students of Classes 9 and 12, classes will be conducted on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On the other hand, for the 10 and 11 standards the classes will be held on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
“For every class, the students should be divided into two batches, so that, in any class, the total number of students is less than 20. The first batch of students will come to school from 9-12 am, for the second batch of students classes will be held from 1 pm to 4 pm,” read the SOP.
