The Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal has today visited the site of the world's first WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine at Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the world's first WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine at Jamnagar, Gujarat is all set to be held on April 21, 2022, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal has today inspected the site and reviewed the ongoing preparations for the ceremony.

Sarbananda Sonowal's tweet reads, "Inspected the site and reviewed preparations for ground breaking ceremony of the world's first WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine at Jamnagar, Gujarat. The ceremony will be attended by Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji & @WHO DG @DrTedros."

Centre aims to improve overall health of the communities’ world over

Ministry of Ayush had signed the Host Country Agreement with World Health Organization (WHO) for establishing WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in India at Jamnagar, Gujarat, on March 25 in Geneva. The agreement was signed by Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush and Director General, WHO Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

PM Narendra Modi, in his message for the event, said, “It is heartening to learn about the signing agreement for the establishment of Global Centre for Traditional Medicine. Through various initiatives, our government has been tireless in its endeavour to make preventive and curative healthcare, affordable and accessible to all. The global centre at Jamnagar will help in providing the best healthcare solutions to the world.”
