The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) in Delhi welcomed a distinguished delegation from Thailand's Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM). Led by Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, the Director General of DTAM, the delegation aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration in yoga education and research.

Strengthening Cross-Cultural Collaboration

The visit served to foster cross-cultural collaboration in the realms of yoga education, therapy, and research. It underscored MDNIY’s ongoing dedication to holistic health and wellness through the ancient traditions of yoga, reinforcing the institute's role as a global leader in the field.

Overview of MDNIY’s Programs

Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received by Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director of MDNIY. Dr. Samagandi provided an in-depth presentation on the institute's diverse programs and activities, emphasizing the significance of Yoga Certification Board (YCB) accreditation for yoga institutes and trainers globally. This initiative aims to elevate the standards of yoga education, ensuring quality and consistency in training.

Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin expressed a keen interest in the evolution of MDNIY as a premier institution for yoga, highlighting the shared values and goals between the two countries in promoting holistic health.

Emphasizing Traditional Yoga Heritage

During his address, Dr. Samagandi spoke passionately about the rich heritage of MDNIY, describing it as a "Land of Traditional Yoga." He emphasized the institute's commitment to preserving and promoting ancient yoga practices that have been handed down through generations. “MDNIY offers a holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being,” he remarked, reinforcing the importance of traditional practices in contemporary health.

Guided Tour of Facilities

Following the presentation, the delegation embarked on a guided tour of MDNIY’s state-of-the-art infrastructure. Highlights included the NABH-accredited Yoga Therapy Out-Patient Department (OPD), multimedia library, and various specialized laboratories. The visiting officials interacted with department heads to gain insights into the operational procedures and methodologies employed at the institute.

A notable part of the visit was an introduction to Shatkriyas (Cleansing Practices), where the Thai delegation learned about the importance of these traditional practices in yoga therapy.

Engaging in Yoga and Environmental Initiatives

To conclude their visit, the delegation participated in a short yoga session designed specifically for relaxation, aimed at working professionals. This hands-on experience allowed them to engage with the practice personally.

In a demonstration of commitment to environmental sustainability, Dr. Visanuyothin and his team took part in a tree plantation initiative under the theme 'EK PED, MAA KE NAAM', symbolizing their dedication to nurturing the earth alongside traditional practices.

As MDNIY continues to bridge cultures through the shared philosophy of wellness, the partnership with DTAM signifies a promising step toward enriching the yoga landscape in both India and Thailand.
