Sharing a tweet on social media, the chief minister said, “In view of the torrential rains lashing Delhi since last 2 days and warnings from the Meteorological Department, all schools in Delhi are being closed for a day tomorrow.”
Delhi schools closed amid heavy rains: The chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal announced the closure of all schools for today, i.e. July 10, amid the heavy rains. According to the announcement, all schools in Delhi across educational boards, i.e. state government, private or semi-government-aided, in the capital will remain closed today.
Sharing a tweet on social media, the chief minister said, “In view of the torrential rains lashing Delhi since last 2 days and warnings from the Meteorological Department, all schools in Delhi are being closed for a day tomorrow.”
The announcement regarding to the closure of schools came after a boundary wall of a government school collapsed in the National Capital following heavy rains. Sources claim that the reconstructed of the school was done only four months ago.
Soon after the reports about the collapse of the school’s wall surfaced, Delhi Education Minister Atishi directed a probe and asked senior officials of the education department, principals and vice-principals to conduct a physical inspection of all government schools.
In an official statement from the minister’s office, it said that in case of any deficiencies or serious problem is found, the school should be cordoned off to avoid any mishap.
“It has been directed to all Regional Directors, Deputy Director of Education - Zones and District, Principals and Vice-Principals that they conduct a physical inspection of all the Government Schools under their jurisdiction on Sunday itself and ensure that on the opening of schools tomorrow there are no such deficiencies are found which may cause problems for the security of the school children,” the statement said.
