Noida, Greater Noida schools shut amid heavy rainfall
Noida Schools Closed: All schools up to Class 12 in Noida and Greater Noida will remain closed on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, due to rain and waterlogging, the Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration said. Parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) received heavy rains this morning, leading to waterlogging in several areas.
"Due to rains and waterlogging, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma has ordered the closure of all schools up to Class 12 for today," District Inspector of Schools Dharmveer Singh said.
Earlier, the Delhi government released an advisory stating that all government and private schools in the areas surrounding River Yamuna will remain closed on July 17 and 18. The Directorate of Education (DoE) took the decision considering the flooding situation still prevailing in areas surrounding the Yamuna River in Delhi.
It further suggested that all flood-hit schools may arrange online classes. Parts of Delhi are submerged in water after the Yamuna in the city breached its banks following days of heavy rains in its upper catchment areas, prompting the evacuation of thousands from low-lying areas. The DoE said schools in all districts will function normally from Wednesday onwards.
