Assam government has announced summer vacations for all the schools and colleges in the state from May 1 to May 31, 2020.
Earlier, in March, the state government had shut down educational institutions around the state as a preventive measure to contain the spread of deadly coronavirus.

Assam government which announced the decision on May 7, will consider the first seven days of the month as part of summer vacations.
The state government had earlier set up a task force to assess the situation and the possibility to conduct online classes for the students. The task force was to submit a report on May 4.
Meanwhile, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council announced that they are planning to announce the AHSEC Result 2020 by June 25 if the coronavirus situation in the country gets better. Around 2.34 lakh candidates appeared for the Assam AHSEC board exam from 772 exam centres across the state this year. Along with Class 12 result, the release of Assam HSLC Result 2020 is also pending.
Due to the coronavirus lockdown, several states were not able to announce the class 10 and 12 results on time. Looking at the current crisis, many states had also called for early summer vacations to adjust the time lost during the nationwide lockdown which has now been extended until May 17.
