The Assam government will be distributing 52,000 tablets to schools. Under this initiative, Girl students from minority communities will be eligible for scholarships from the state.
Assam government has dedicated March 31 as student day as a tribute to Upendra Nath Brahma, a social reformer. Assam Education minister, Ranoj Pegu announced that several schemes will be launched for students. The Assam government will be distributing 52,000 tablets to schools. Under this initiative, Girl students from minority communities will be eligible for scholarships from the state. A mobility grant has been introduced for girl students in undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
In addition to this, UG and PG students will also receive book grants. Schemes such as incentives on mess dues and fee waiver grants to colleges will also be launched in March 31, 2023, at Shankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati.
In recent news, the state government also announced that it will be creating 819 posts for teachers in tea garden schools. The Assam government will spend Rs 33 crore for this purpose to impart quality education to the students of the tea garden communities, Pegu further stated.
Several schemes listed to be launched by the Assam government on March 31 to commemorate Student Day are mentioned below:
- Distribution of 52,000 tablets to schools.
- Scholarship for 26,225 female students from minority communities.
- Mobility grant of INR 10,000 for each female student pursuing their postgraduation in state universities. The grant would be given to a total of 7,723 students.
- Book grants to 3,41,663 students enrolled in UG courses.
- Mess dues incentive to UG and PG level students
- Fee waiver grants to be given to colleges.
