According to the BSEB release, overall 15,29,393 students registered for the matriculation examination this year, having 7.83 lakh (7,83,034) female and 7.46 lakh (7,46,359) male students.

The class 10 Bihar School Education Board (BSEB) exams commenced today. This year there has been a considerable decline in the number of students taking the examination. Overall 15.29 lakh candidates registered this year compared to the last year’s tally of 16.6 lakh students. The number of registrations was approximately 17 lakh in the year 2018.  According to the BSEB release, overall 15,29,393 students registered for the matriculation examination this year, having 7.83 lakh (7,83,034) female and 7.46 lakh (7,46,359) male students. The decrease in the number of student registrations is on account of the continuous progress in pass percentage.

Overall 13.20 lakh (80.73 per cent) students passed the class 10 examination fruitfully, and around 73.67 per cent students cleared the compartment examination. This growth in pass percentage is decreasing the number of students to re-appear for examination. The overall pass percentage stood at 68.89 in 2018, while in 2017, the percentage was 50.32 and it was 46.6 per cent in 2016. The Bihar board permits a registered candidate to take examination six times over a period of three years if they crack the exam in the first attempt. The objective paper is going to have 20 per cent optional questions this year. The students will get 10 more questions for 50 marks of objective paper.

There will be an image of the students on both the objective as well as subjective answer sheets. The board has also taken several measures to prevent cheating. All centres will be under CCTV surveillance, and there will be a videographer for 500 students each.
