In the wake of multiple paper leak incidents in the state over the past year, the Odisha Board has decided to introduce barcodes and watermarks on answer sheets in the Class 10 Odisha Board Exam 2025.
BSE Odisha Exam 2025: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha has announced a new initiative to combat the growing issue of paper leaks by introducing barcodes and watermarks in the Class 10 Odisha Board Exam 2025. This decision comes in the wake of multiple paper leak incidents in the state over the past year, raising concerns about the credibility of the examination process. The introduction of advanced security features aims to prevent similar issues during the upcoming BSE Odisha Matric Examination 2025. According to BSE Odisha Time Table 2025, the Odisha Class 10 exams 2025 will be held from February 21 to March 6, 2025.
BSE Odisha takes Action after Multiple Leaks
According to reports, the board decided to implement these new security measures after a series of incidents involving the leakage of exam papers in Odisha in 2024. These leaks were seen as unfair to both students and the board, leading to a decline in the sanctity of the examination system. As part of the enhanced security protocol, each exam paper for the 2025 Class 10 Odisha exams will feature unique identifiers such as watermarks, barcodes, and encrypted security numbers.
Odisha Paper Leaks 2024: A Series of Incidents
The move to enhance security comes after a series of paper leak incidents in Odisha in 2024. Some of the major leaks included the English question paper for the Odisha High School Certificate (HSC) examination, which was reportedly leaked on February 24, 2024. Additionally, there were allegations of mishandling of the question paper for the Odisha Staff Selection Commission Statistical Assistance Recruitment exam on October 6, 2024. Another significant incident involved the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case, where one individual was arrested in Bhubaneswar on August 6, 2024.
Odisha Board Exam 2025: Experimental Testing of Security Features
In an effort to ensure the success of this initiative, BSE Odisha began testing the security measures with the Odisha Secondary School Teachers Eligibility Test (OSSTET) scheduled for January 17, 2025. Srikant Tarai, President of BSE, stated that if the experimental security measures proved successful during the OSSTET exam, they would be rolled out for the Odisha Matric Examination. The board’s focus is on strengthening security and restoring confidence in the exam process, ensuring that no unfair practices, such as paper leaks, take place during the BSE Odisha Class 10 exams 2025.
BSE Odisha Exam Schedule 2025
The BSE Odisha also announced the official schedule for the 2025 Odisha Matric Examination on November 14, 2024. As per the announcement, the exams will be conducted daily from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, with one sitting and a single question paper for both regular and ex-regular students. The Odisha 10th exams 2025 will begin on February 21, 2025, and conclude on March 6, 2025.
Legislative Action Against Exam Fraud
In response to the growing concern over exam-related fraud, the Odisha state assembly passed a bill in December 2024 that mandates stringent punishments for organized crimes in recruitment and entrance examinations. The new law includes a provision for up to 10 years of imprisonment for those found guilty of engaging in or facilitating exam paper leaks. This bill aligns with the Public Exam (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, which was passed by the central government in February 2024, further strengthening the legal framework around exam security.
