The Karnataka SSLC Board Exams 2020 got postponed due to the outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19 followed by multiple lockdowns in order to control the virus spread.
Karnataka government decided to conduct Karnataka SSLC Exams 2020 in June. However, this decision is not taken well by a group of experts. These experts are asking the government to cancel Karnataka SSLC board exams 2020 and promote all the students to the next class.
According to the Karnataka SSLC Time Table 2020, the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) was supposed to conduct the class 10 board examinations from March 27 to April 9. However, the Karnataka SSLC Board Exams 2020 got postponed due to the outbreak of the pandemic COVID-19 followed by multiple lockdowns in order to control the virus spread.
Now, the Karnataka Board released the Karnataka SSLC Timetable 2020 for all the postponed examinations. According to the revised Karnataka SSLC exam timetable 2020, the examinations will now be conducted from June 25 to July 4, 2020. As many as 8,48,192 students have registered for the same. However, a group of experts is opposing the conduction of the Karnataka SSLC examination amid the COVID-19 crisis.
The group including intellectuals and educationists wrote a letter to CM BS Yediyurappa asking the government to cancel the Karnataka Class 10 Board examination 2020 and allow ‘mass-pass’ for every student. Educationist VP Niranjan Aradhya in the letter said that they were listing the scientific reasons to the CM for cancellation of exams which are slated to be conducted in June. The letter read, “There are close to 8.5 lakh students and 2.5 lakh staff involved. If we include parents who would drop their kids at the exam centre, around 30 lakh people will be involved in the process, making it a risky affair. Though the government has said that it will separate the students with fever or other ailments, will students admit to having a fever? What if they consume paracetamol and come to write exams?”
The letter also asked that will the government conduct the supplementary exams for those students who would fail. Conducting exams comes at a huge cost of Rs 20 cr to Rs 25 crore. And so to curb the expenses the Karnataka SSLC Board Exams 2020 should be cancelled and students should be promoted.
Meanwhile the Karnataka Board decided not to allow students residing in the containment zones in the state to appear for the Karnataka SSLC examination 2020. These students can appear for the Karnataka SSLC Board examination 2020 at the time of supplementary examinations conducted by the Board.
