CBSE made some major changes in the provision for the CBSE 10th students willing to pursue Mathematics-Standard in Class 11. Check the details here!
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) informed that students do not need to appear for the Mathematics compartment exam to pursue Mathematics in Class 11. The decision is taken by the Board in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The Board also states that it is applicable only for the session 2020-21. According to the CBSE’s provision, if a student qualifies the Mathematic-Basic exam and wants to pursue Mathematics-Standard in Class 11, then he/she must appear for the compartment exam of the same in order to pursue Mathematics at higher levels. However, for this year, i.e. for the session 2020-21, the Board has made a change in this provision due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The Board released the CBSE 12th Results 2020 on July 13 and CBSE 10th results on July 15, 2020.
According to CBSE Board’s latest official notification, “Students who have appeared in Mathematics Basic (Code 241) in Class X - 2020 main examination and are desirous of pursuing Mathematics (Code 041) in Class XI in the session 2020-21 can opt Mathematics (Code 041)”.
The notification further added that “Before permitting Mathematics in Class XI to such students, Head of the Institution should satisfy that the student is having the aptitude and ability to pursue Mathematics in Class XI”.
Meanwhile, answering to students’ demand regarding the cancellation of CBSE 10th and CBSE 12th compartment exam, CBSE stated that the Board will conduct the compartment exams and schedule of the same will be released soon.
The notice also informed that “It was also requested that a notification be issued by CBSE declaring that the petitioner and the similarly placed 10th and 12th students can apply to any institution or school for further studies till the compartment examination are either cancelled or suspended. It is clarified that the request is against the Examination Bye-Laws and also does not fall under the ambit of CBSE.”
